Cathrine Holst is Professor at Department of Sociology and Human Geography and Research Professor at ARENA Centre for European Studies, University of Oslo. She is also affiliated with the Centre for Research on Gender Equality (CORE) in Oslo. Holst holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Bergen, Norway.

Cathrine Holst has been Senior Researcher at ARENA – Centre for European Studies, University of Oslo since 2007. At ARENA she is connected to the research project Reconstituting Democracy in Europe (RECON) where she contributes to the work packages Theoretical framework (WP1) and Justice, democracy and gender (WP4).

She holds a PhD in International Relations from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). A key concern in her research has been to develop new theoretical concepts that better capture the normative dimensions of foreign policy and to test these in empirical research. The GLOBUS Research Papers are pre-print scientific articles on the EU’s contribution to global justice as well as the wider question of Global Political Justice. The series is multidisciplinary, with a particular emphasis on the fields of international relations, political science, political theory, sociology and law.
